Most Looked Forward To Books of January

In January there are a lot of books being released by many different authors. Most of these releases are sequels or continuations in series that are well liked and loved by the bookish community. In this post, I am going to highlight the many different books to look out for in no certain order.

  1. In an Absent Dream by Seanan McGuire

If you are like me and you have read the Wayward Children books, you must also be excited for the next installment of the series. Of course it has already been released earlier in the month but with all the releases going on, it is hard to get to any particular one. I would say that the series is not exactly linear so you don’t have to read the previous books but there is a lot of fine detail that you will miss if you do so.

  2. The Vanishing Stair by Maureen Johnson

I have been a fan of Maureen for many years now and I am always excited to read her new books. Her new series is even better than her old works, though, so I am doubly excited to get to reading the sequel to, in my opinion, one of the best books released last year. There’s a lot of mystery and intrigue going on so if you love works such as Arthur Conan Doyle or Agatha Christie or watch crime shows, you’ll love this as well.

  3. The Wicked King by Holly Black

If you were in the reading community last year, you would know what a discussion The Cruel Prince incurred. The whole community was divisive on whether they liked it or not but one thing’s for sure is that this series will keep people talking. I didn’t personally read The Cruel Prince but I am looking forward to seeing the end result of Holly Black’s work.

  4. The King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo

Now in this book, I have some unique experiences with the series. I haven’t read the Grisha-verse series yet so I don’t know if I am able to read this new book but I did read other works by Leigh Bardugo that are set in the same universe. Six of Crows and its sequel Crooked Kingdom were also great books that I read last year and I fell in love with. And for people who read that series might know that we meet a certain someone that premieres in the King of Scars book. So, i am conflicted on whether I should go back and read the Grishaverse this year since I liked Bardugo’s other series.

  5. The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden

I don’t know if it’s relevant to the people that i follow in the reading community, but this series by Katherine Arden seems to be well received and liked by many. I have never read this series but it is a series centered around old Russia and the magic that surrounds their many fairytales. I do love a good mythology series so I don’t know how to feel on picking this up.

  6. Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee

The next installment of the Rick Riordan presents series, we are introduced to Korean mythology as well as a main character who is essentially a kitsune in space. I myself have yet to pick up any of the Rick Riordan presents books but I am excited for the places that it’s going and what it’s doing, so I encourage others to read the many series available.

There are probably a lot of cool books being released that are not in the list but these are the books that I see being recommended to me from various different people that I follow. Hope you have an amazing day and keep reading!
